Our client is seeking to recruit a Health Safety Officer who will be responsible for the helping in the management, creation and implementation of health, safety & environmental policies in accordance with the latest legislation and to ensure that these policies are implemented by management and employees. The successful candidate will monitor workplace health and safety risks and hazards and advise workers and managers on how to minimise or eliminate these risks and hazards.

Main duties of the position:

  • Maintain the Health and Safety Management systems including updating and implementing policies and procedures
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with current legislation, industry standards, company procedures, H&S training, corporate initiatives and assist in implementing the corporate strategy
  • Carry out risk assessments and ensure safe systems of work are developed, monitored and embedded across the sites
  • Help develop monthly H&S checks and carry out yearly audit
  • Help reduce / prevent accidents, injuries and work-related illnesses in the workplace
  • To be responsible for all aspects of COSHH
  • Carry out accident and incident investigations including maintaining logs, statistics and ensuring actions are complete. Advise how to prevent accidents from occurring again (Lfe, learning from events)
  • Organise and deliver Site inductions for contractors and employees
  • Carry out in-house training sessions with employees about H&S issues and risks
  • Conduct tool box talks
  • Oversee First aid arrangements, inclusive of refreshment training to all first aiders
  • Arrange external H&S Training as required

 

Skills and experience required:

  • Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level
  • At least 3 years’ experience of Health, Safety and Environmental practice in a manufacturing environment
  • A proactive attitude towards Health & Safety with a desire to resolve issues effectively and quickly
  • Experience in training with strong presentation skills
  • Understanding of Method Statements, Risk Assessment’s, Health & Safety Audits and COSHH
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A practical, positive and flexible approach to work

Salary:

£30k – £36k dependent on experience plus yearly bonus dependent on achievement on profit targets
